Up to 102 students from Tribal Hostel of Islamia Collegiate School were rushed to hospital after developing serious health problems on Thursday night. The hostel houses some 350 students. On Thursday night rice and meat was served to the boarders in dinner that resulted in diarrhea to most of the students. Worried about the situation, the hostel management called ambulances and the students were rushed to the nearby Khyber Teaching Hospital. It seems a clear case of food poisoning. Proper care is not given to cleanliness in our hostels, which sometime results in similar situation,” said a senior teacher of Islamia Collegiat School, the historic institution of the province. Most of the affected students were discharged from the hospital after necessary treatment while some were still hospitalised, but their condition was stated to be stable.

There were reports that the school administration had recently made massive changes in the hostel management. Almost all the wardens were changed and many of them were not happy with the decision, sources told.
