The ICUP, Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences), Hayatabad, Peshawar and Islamic Society of Statistical Sciences (ISOSS) have jointly organized this three day conference.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has made remarkable progress in a very short span of time by establishing 11 archeology museums and 11 universities in the province, however few people outside KP knew about this achievement, said Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali Khan.
He said this while addressing the inaugural session of 13th International Conference on Statistical Sciences as chief guest that began at the historic Roose Keppel Hall of Islamia College University Peshawar Monday.
Dr. Ihsan Ali continued that the ICUP had organized this conference in line with its supreme educational and research traditions. He expressed the hope that this conference would play a pivotal role in bringing together the knowledge available on the subject of Statistics and promote research in this discipline. Such educational and research activities, he added, would soon bring ICUP in the list of top most universities of the country.
The VC of ICUP, Ajmal Khan in his address highly appreciated the holding of this international conference and appreciated the efforts of the organizers for giving a robust start to educational and research activities on the ICUP campus. He said that the conference would provide a platform to the academia, researchers, experts and students to share their knowledge and promote the research in the field of Statistics.
Prof. Dr. Mohsin Khan, Director, IM Sciences said that his institute was established in 1998 with a supreme objective of promoting management education and research in the province.
He told that at present around 2700 students were getting management education in more than 125 academic programmes besides the institute was providing training and research facilities to other public and private sector organizations.
The ISOSS President, Prof. Dr. Munir Ahmad Khan said that the Islamic Society of Statistical Sciences was the outcome of the efforts of Muslim countries experts on statistics in the year 1988.
He told that basic aim and objective of ISOSS was to promote statistical education and research in the Muslim World. He added that for 13th International Conference on Statistical Sciences, the ISOSS chose ICUP and the conference would reflect the research capabilities of Pakistani Universities and institutional know how in statistics.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Sareer Badshah, Registrar of ICUP, who is a statician by profession, threw light on the history, research activities, and achievements of Department of Statistics, ICUP. He also dilated upon the supreme past history of the Islamia College and its role in the making of Pakistan.
The VC ICUP, Ajmal Khan presented the insignia and shields of Islamia College to the guests while Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Khan, an assistant professor of Statistics, presented the vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Khan of the Department of English performed as stage secretary.
