The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani has announced to establish two women colleges in the province and said the higher education and research have always played a fundamental role in socioeconomic development but unfortunately, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa these sectors have been badly neglected in the past, adding that the PTI led present government in its tenure of one year has taken several historical reforms and initiatives in this regard.
This he said while addressing a first Home Economics Conference arranged by Society of Home Economists at Peshawar on Thursday. Speaker Provincial Assembly, Asad Qaiser, Secretary Higher Education, Farrah Hamid, Additional Secretary, Khalid Khan, Principals of Colleges and Professors attended the conference.
Provincial Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani while addressing the conference lauded the formation of society and termed it as golden step for academic discipline and community development. He said the home is a first and the best institution for individuals in society. A highly educated and capable mother can play a vital role in establishing a successful society as well as to eradicate social evils.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives regarding its plan “Education for All”, he said the government was providing equal opportunities of education to both the boys and girls for the first time in our history, the upper age limit of women for admission in degree programme, had been lifted, while 10 years age relaxation and free education facility is also being provided to the special students of degree programe.
Mushtaq Ghani on the occasion also assured that issues being faced by the society of Home Economics would be resolved on priority basis.
