Government is making efforts to improve the literacy rate in the tribal belt. A press release issued by FATA Secretariat states that keeping in view the lack of basic facilities and unavailability of furniture and other equipment in several boys & girls schools in FR Kohat, the Political Administration provided necessary furniture and equipment to 30 government schools. Besides furniture, items included water coolers, fans, cupboards, black boards as well as the installation of hand pumps etc. This project is expected to benefit about 3,629 students as well as 202 teachers of these schools. The press release adds that in order to provide basic facilities to local communities, the Political Administration has completed a project for the provision of street pavements and drainage as well as the installation of pressure pumps for drinking water in Attory wall, Akhorwal area in FR Kohat. This project is now expected to benefit about 5000 individuals of this area.
