8 weeks PDP held at UET

The launching ceremony of eight weeks professional development program was held today at Continuing Engineering Education Center (CEEC) UET Peshawar. The Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar and Chairman HEC, Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani was Chief Guest on the occasion.

The eight weeks professional development program comprising variety of topics/courses is being conducted at Continuing Engineering Education Center, UET Peshawar in collaboration with Urban Policy Unit KPK sponsored by USAID. The participants of the courses include nominees from various government departments namely P&D, C&W, Public Health, Cantonment Board, etc and NGOs.

In his welcome note, Engr. Syed Asif Ali Shah, Director CEEC apprised about the said program and elaborated on the activities of the Center. He said the center is fully engaged in variety of professional development courses during day time as well as in the evening. He however, requested the participants to actively participate during the sessions as these courses are audience driven and participation makes them more beneficial.

The Chief Guest Chairman HEC Engr. Syed ImtiazHussain Gilani in his address enlightened the audience and said that best of the brains of nation are sitting in the universities. There is a complete paradigm shift in the role of HEIs. In present times universities are to build economies and provide leaderships. 

The Higher Education Commission is focusing on the above and making the HEIs to concentrate on contribution towards community benefits. 

He also emphasized that the researchers of the universities may be part of the policy making. He also and appreciated the role of CEEC & NIUIP, UET Peshawar.

Earlier Engr. Zubair Qureshi, Executive Director, Urban Policy Unit, KPK highlighted the role and importance of Urban Policy Unit and briefly elaborated the objectives of the department and shed some light on the ensuing projects. He also emphasized the participants to draw maximum benefit out of the opportunity, besides, making themselves abreast with the techniques, they should also develop the networking. Mr. Zubair Qureshi complemented the UET Peshawar’s role and termed UET as a partner in all assignments they are ensuing currently.
