The annual prize distribution ceremony of University Public School was held on Thursday in which students with distinction in both academics and sports activities were awarded prizes and cash prizes. Besides best teachers and other staff members were also given away souvenirs and certificates for providing quality academic and extracurricular facilities to the students.
Special Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Masoom Shah Bacha was the chief guest of the day. Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan was the guest of the honor. Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar Dr. Muhammad Shafi Afridi and Chairman Technical Board Prof. Nasir Khan were also present on the occasion.
Holding of the annual function is a good step to acknowledge the hard work of students, who have worked hard the whole year, to be amongst the best among the equals, said Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhamamd Rasul Jan. He commended the untiring efforts of the teachers for providing best academic and extra academic services to the students.
University Public School has been imparting quality education to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA for decades. The grate legacy possessed by this school needs to be taken further however, so that this institution can emerge as the best primary and secondary education institution of the country, added the Vice Chancellor.
Syed Masoom Shah said his government has primarily focused on enhancing the literacy rate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This is evident from the fact that 4% of the total revenue of the province has been allocated for the education sector.
He was of the opinion that his government has made education accessible to all the people in the province and established several Universities.
Principal UPS Gul Hameed informed the audience that his school has been successfully arranging the sports competition for the last three years. He added students of the school regularly feature in the top ten students of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Examinations each year.
