ASRB IC approves 75 research proposals

The 6th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) of Islamia College, Peshawar (a public sector University) held yesterday (May 9, 2014) with its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz in the chair, approved a total 75 research proposals of the research scholars enrolled with the various teaching departments of the University.

The meeting attended by the deans and chairpersons of teaching faculties from physical, numerical and social sciences including Director Higher Studies and Research of ICP, Dr. Muneeb-ur-Rehman and Deputy Registrar (Academics), M. Haroon Khan, approved 62 research proposals of scholars for M. Phil and 13 for Ph. D. Besides, approving the award of degree of Ph. D and M. Phil to some scholars who have already completed their research work and whose work has been evaluated positively. 

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz appreciated the efforts of the deans, chairpersons, and director higher studies and research for taking concrete measures to ensure quality and pace of research in the University. He, however, emphasized the need of strictly adhering to the guidelines and standards of research as framed out by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). 

The Vice-Chancellor while discussing the registration of foreign countries scholars with the Islamia College Peshawar remarked that the student-scholars from Afghanistan should be given all out facilitation in research and higher studies with the ICP. 

He said that foreign students, specially the scholars from Afghanistan were the ambassadors of Pakistan in their native countries and they should be given all possible facilities in admission, enrolment and research at the Islamia College, Peshawar. 

Meanwhile, a group of senior lawyers from the High Court of Peshawar, led by Isa Khan advocate, President, Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHBA) called on the Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College, Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz and exchanged issues of mutual interest with him. 

The delegation comprising PHBA President, Isa Khan advocate, Akhtar Ali advocate and Ibrahim Shah advocate vowed to actively cooperate with the Islamia College, Peshawar in concerned spheres of activity and discussed matter of mutual interest with the Vice Chancellor.
