Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan on Friday constituted a six-member high-level education committee to ensure transparency and merit in selection and appointment of administrative and academic officials in public sector universities.
Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary Ejaz Qureshi will be the committee chairman while its members include secretary higher education department, a representative of provincial Public Service Commission, special secretary establishment, and vice-chancellors of Engineering University Peshawar, Kohat University of Science and Technology, and former vice-chancellor of Hazara University, Mansehra, according to a handout issued here.
The committee will review the selection policy of all the public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure transparency and submit its report directly to the governor within 60 days.
The governor said that all the administrative and academic appointments in public sector universities should be strictly based on transparency and merit without any political affiliations to improve state of higher education in the province. — Bureau Report
