Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak has appreciated the hard work of all members of the Working Group including University Professors for preparing vibrant recommendations for promotion of higher education and assured that like other sectors their recommendations would be given practical and legal cover.
The chief minister was talking to a delegation of professors that were part of the Working Group for preparation of recommendations on higher education, which called on him here in Chief Minister’s Secretariat and discussed matters relating to the promotion of education with him. Dean of the Centre of Disaster Management, PU, Professor Dr. Amir Nawaz Khan led the delegation. Member Provincial Assembly Mehmood Jan was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the government has to implement and enforce laws and recommendations. He said that they had already adopted the recommendations of working committee on higher education. He said since the coming of the affairs of universities under the supervision of the provincial government they had adopted non-interfering and transparent policy in all matters including the posting of vice chancellors.
He said all has been left on the discretionary powers of the universities’ management to give good results. He said that they are fully aware of the situation created by the previous governments in which even the sensitive matters of basic and higher education were not forgiven.
In universities, he said appointments of vice chancellors were made on personal and political affiliation basis, which besides resulting in creation of mismanagement turned the universities into the rings of politics and the innocent students and their poor parents became the victims.
The chief minister said that he is happy that the working group had wisely worked out matters from appointment of vice chancellors, other matters for bringing transparency in universities and their purging of politics. He said the purpose of the inclusion of the experts of sectors concerned in working group was getting better guidance and hidden corners of the subject. He said the top priority of the PTI led coalition government is abolition of class-based- dual standard of education and enforcement of unified English medium education and mainstream the people to enable them for countering changes and challenges occurred in the world. He said that instead of merely building schools and colleges, they wanted the establishment of actual education, research and creative institutes and beside proficiency in science and technology also increased the research and productive capabilities of youth.
He said that under their education programme, besides increasing the number of colleges and universities, they would be turned into real cradles of knowledge and skill. The chief minister said the provincial government would not only remain adhered to non-interference, merit and rule of law in universities and government departments, but also justified in expecting better results in this regard.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa Pervez Khattak has strongly condemned the terror act of blast at railway line in Kashmor that resulted in derailing of Karachi to Peshawar bound Khushal Khan Express killing over 8 precious lives of passengers and injuring many others.
Pervez Khattak in a condolence message expressed heartfelt sympathies and solidarity with affected families. He prayed for eternal peace of killed and early recovery of injured of the tragic incident.
