NUTEC is an annual event at FAST NUCES, Peshawar which was held from 25th to 27th April, 2014. Students from all over the country converged at NUCES Peshawar to take part in different competitions. The students from the Department of Computer Science, UOP, displayed excellent skills to outshine all others by winning first prizes in Speed Programming and Software Project Exhibition
The team of Salman Haider, Hassan Ahmad and Abu Bakar took first prize in the speed programming competition. They competed against 20 other teams from all over Pakistan. This included teams from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), FAST Karachi, FAST Lahore, FAST Islamabad and FAST Peshawar.
In the Software Project Exhibition, Muhammad Kashif took first prize for his project “3D Scanning and Modelling” that was supervised by Dr. Abdul Haseeb Malik. The team of Muhammad Ayaz, Syed Irfan Ullah, and Azam Khan also participated in this competition.
The team of Salman Haider, Hassan Ahmad and Abu Bakar also participated in the Computer Science Quiz and got to the second round where they were eliminated. The team of Syed Shayan Ali , Faheem Ullah and Sami Ullah also participated in the quiz where they were eliminated in the first round.
The Department of Computer Science, UOP facilitated the participation of its students in the event by covering all their expenses (including the registration fee). Chairman computer science Department (Dr. Saeed Mahfooz) encourages the students to participate in such events. It is proud of the achievements of its students and it encourages future participation at such events.
