District Education Officer (Male) Bajaur, Deputy District Officer (Male) and the principal of Government Girls High School Khar, Bajaur have been removed from their posts after a video footage made rounds on social media in which DEO could be seen visiting the girls high schools as a special guest for a function and students showered him with rose petals .

Bajaur is considered a very conservation tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Male DEOs are forbidden to visit the girl schools in their areas as a rule but even then the head of the girls high school, Jamila Raza, invited the DEO Male Shirin Zada to the school to attend a function as chief guest where he was accorded a ‘red carpet welcome’. As a punishment, DDO Male and DEO Male were removed from their posts while the head of the school was transferred to adjacent Dir district. The services of DDO and DEO have been handed over to the Establishment Department.

A notification has already been issued by Elementary and Higher Secondary Education Department in this regard.

Talking to The Express Tribune a local elder Maulana Khanzaib said that as per rule male DEO or officers of the Education Department are strictly forbidden to visit girl schools but even then the mentioned officers didn’t hesitate even for a second to turn down the invitation.

“To add insult to injuries the teen age girl students were forced to shower petals on the guest and give him a red carpet welcome like he returned victorious from a world war.
