The activists of the Fata Students Federation organised a walk highlighting the importance of education and urged the government to provide pen and book to the tribal youth, instead of gun.
The walk, given the title of ‘Qalam, Kitab Rally’ (pen, book rally), started from the government college and the participants reached the Peshawar Press Club while marching on different routes of the city.
The rally was led by president of the federation Khan Bahader Wazir, vice-president Burhanuddin Chamkani and secretary Roohullah Mohmand. The participants of the walk were of the opinion that change in the tribal society could be brought about only through education.
They stressed the government to take steps for rehabilitation of the around 1000 educational institutions in the tribal areas. They said the students, who have moved to the settled districts due to the prolonged militancy and military operations, should be adjusted in the educational institutions there.
