The Scholarship Awards Distribution Ceremony held in Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar under IMSciences FATA Scholarship Programme. Mr. Arshad Majeed Secretary FATA Investment Facilitation Authority (FIFA) FATA Secretariat, distributed the scholarship awards among twenty one (21) most deserving students from FATA.
These students are currently enrolled in different disciplines including management sciences, social sciences, computer sciences and economics, in both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan, Director IMSciences Peshawar, Mr. Amir Abdur Rehman, Deputy Secretary (Universities) Higher Education Department, Mr. Muhammad Javed, Assistant Director (Scholarships) Directorate of Education, FATA Secretariat, Members of IMSciences FATA Scholarship Management Committee and faculty members attended this event.
The Director IM|Sciences briefed the audience regarding the agreement between IMSciences and FATA Secretariat. He shared that under this agreement the FATA Secretariat shall provide Rs. 218 Million grant to the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar.
Out of this total funding, Rs. 90 million is allocated for infrastructure development and Rs. 128 million for provision of financial aid / scholarships to those FATA students who are talented but are facing financial constraints to pursue their higher education.
This programme will be continued for the next 20 years and on annual basis, the Institute will finance 25 graduates. The Institute will also conduct preparatory semester for the selected students, with a purpose to prepare these students for their examinations and to polish their communication skills. Each selected student will be provided tuition fee support and stipend for their entire education in IMSciences Peshawar.
He further asserted that the Institute has a total of 471 FATA enrolled students and 38 % of these students are getting financial aid / scholarships in IMSciences under different scholarship programmes.
He thanked the chief guest and other officials from FATA secretariat for their beneficent contribution to the Institute and FATA students’ future. He emphasized that the investment in higher education and our talented youth will lead us to the solution of our major social and economic problems.
