Fata students protest against closure of scholarship

Tribal students various agencies of Fata, on Friday staged a protest demonstration against closure of Scholarship program for them, under Prime Minister Scheme, demanding the government to immediate resumption of the program in the tribal region.

The protest demonstration was spearheaded by Fata Students Organisation, central president Shaukat Aziz, President Peshawar University tribal students association Haleem Orakzai and Arsalan and dozens of tribal students, which were studying various education institutions in the settled areas.

Talking to reporters, the tribal student organization president said that the tribal students, studying in University of Peshawar and other education institutions, had submitted forms for attainment of scholarship under Prime Minister Scheme.

He, said the despite approval of the Fata scholarship by Higher Education Commission, the university administration deprived more 146 tribal students to take benefit from the scholarship program, which were using delaying tactics to issue scholarship to them.

The tribal students demanded the Federal government and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to take notice of the issue and give them scholarships otherwise, they would compel to protest against it.

 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Amjad Ali Khan while stressing to focus on the refusal cases and drop-out children of under five years from anti polio vaccines, has strictly directed the authorities concerned to adopt effective and successful strategy to ensure anti polio drops to each and every child in the entire district.
