Final round of plantation drive begins at UoP

The final round of the spring plantation drive at varsity began from the Sheikh Muhammad Taimur academic Block of the University of Peshawar. VC UoP Prof. Dr. M. Rasul Jan was part of the final round and kicked off the drive by planting a Magnolia sapling on the day. Deans of Faculties, Admin staff and green volunteer students were also present. Addressing the faculty and students the Vice Chancellor said that University of Peshawar was well on its way to meet the target of planting ten thousand trees in the vicinity of UoP in the current drive. He added that some four thousand trees would be planted in the final round and the process would be completed within a fortnight. Dr. Rasul Jan urged the students to contribute to the beautification of the University by taking good care of the plants and nurture them to become a fully grown tree. He added that UoP fully support the green initiative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. He said that University campus was known for its lush green grasses and plants and one can feel the difference in the atmosphere once you enter the grater campus.

He added that with the increase in the number of students and traffic on campus, the maintenance of the cleaner and greener environment is a task which would be fulfilled by taking the students and employees of the sister Universities and institutes on the University camp.
