General Secretary of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations (FAPUASA) Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Jamil Ahmad on Friday in his statement appreciated Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for extending the deadline for the implementation of its law about the academic experience required for professors and associate professors after completing Ph.D degrees.

HEC was welling to implement the said law in the year 2008 through which every Ph. D scholar after completion of degree was required to have at least eight years teaching experience in Public Sector University for getting Professor Position while four years experience was the criteria for associate professor’s position but teaching staff of different public sector varsities were not happy with law and they were of the view that it was affecting their promotions.

The deadline for the implementation of the law was extended till June 2013 after protests of teaching community which was further delayed to June 2015 which according Jamil Chtrali would help the young teachers at public sector varsities. He thanked Chairman HEC Dr. Javid Ahmad Laghari for heeding towards the reservation of academic staff; teaching community would also fully cooperate with HEC for the development of higher education in province, he added.
