The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has stressed the need to expedite efforts for allowing charter of degree awarding institution to the Edwards College, Peshawar which, he added, is the long standing demand of the faculty and its other stake holders.
Presiding over a meeting to review pace of progress in this connection at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Thursday, the Governor who is also the Chairman of the Board of Governor’s of the institution observed that all the respective organizations especially the Higher Education Commission needs to be approached to complete their coddle formalities to pave the way for making this possible.
The meeting besides the Secretary, provincial Higher Education Department, Farah Hamed Khan and the Vice Chancellor of the Haripur University, Dr. Naser Ali Khan who is also the member of the Board of the Governor’s of the college was also attended by the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Abid Majeed.
It merits a mention here that the Edward’s College, Peshawar is a one of the most prestigious educational institution of the country working in autonomous capacity for over a century.
Meanwhile the Governor was also briefed about the salient features of the pace of progress with regard to the proposal for allowing degree awarding status to the college.
He was informed that though the Board of Governor’s of the college has been recommending the initiative for the last few years yet, the case is lingering on because of incomplete coddle formalities.

The Governor while expressing his deep concern over the tragic incident has said that the elements involved in the gruesome incident will be brought to court of law and Ali Haider Gilani will be recovered shortly.
He has also expressed his deep solidarity with Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and the other members of the family over the tragic incident and wished safe recovery of Ali Haider Gilani.
