Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education Muhammad Atif has said the provincial government is spending million of rupees on teachers’ training and it is necessary that there should be a transparent system to check the performance of teachers before and after the training.
The minister expressed these views while chairing a meeting regarding capacity building of elementary teachers training institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday. This project is assisted by Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development formally called CIDA.
Over 7,500 teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have completed professional training under CIDA project of provincial government. The aim of the project is to improve the capacity of Elementary Teachers through In-Service trainings and to improve existing facilities in teacher training institutions for the best delivery of pre-service and in-service teachers training programs.
The minister was apprised that scholarships, setting up of computer laboratories and civil works are also part of CIDA projects.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said PTI government believes that professional teachers’ training is inevitable to improve the performance of government schools and give quality education to students.
The Minister again underlined the need for a transparent test system to check the performance of teachers after training, adding that whole system is being revamped.
Secretary E&S Education Afzal Latif, Additional Secretary Qaiser Alam, Special Secretary Musarat Hussain, Chief Planning Officer Jamal Khan and other officials also attended the meeting.
