An office-bearer of the Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba (IJT) on Sunday accused the Peshawar University administration of backing a group of students that, he alleged, was involved in the firing at participants of a walk and injuring a student.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the IJT President for the University of Peshawar Campus, Hafeezullah, alleged several activists of the Pakhtun Students Federation were nominated in a first information report for resorting to firing on their procession, but no arrest was made so far.
He alleged the university administration was providing protection to those who disturbed the peaceful environment at the university and injured a student. In order to save the PkSF activists, he alleged, the university administration lodged a FIR against the IJT office-bearers and charged them with torching some rooms in the university hostels.
