The first ever Khyber Pukhtunkhwa ‘Civic Hackathon’ will be conducted at the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar from 31st January to 2nd February 2014. The event is a mega initiative of IT Board, Government of KP to be organized in partnership with the World Bank, Pakistan for the Code for Pakistan and Peshawar 2.0.
Sadiqullah, Managing Director KP, IT Board, while addressing the high level meeting here today said the main purpose of event is to involve students’ teams from different universities and colleges of KP where students having KP domicile will be eligible to participate and forge solutions to common problems faced by government departments and citizens of KPK. The teams providing the best solution will be given prizes and will be offered a six month fellowship by the IT Board to do further work on their solutions. The 2-day “Civic Hackathon”, with the theme “Towards better digital Pakistan” will provide the youth an enormous networking opportunity to create prototypes that address civic problems by getting mentoring from relevant experts in the government.
