Kausar wants seperate space for varsities inside UoP Campus

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that presence of five universities in one campus was creating problems which need to be addressed.

Governor directed Secretary Higher Education Commission to consult all stakeholders for shifting of campuses and transfer of assets among universities to ease out the overcrowded institutions and submit a comprehensive report to the chancellor in a month’s time. 

Talking to a delegation of Peshawar University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) Kausar assured PUTA to arrange funds for Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the teachers’ association. President PUTA Jamil Ahmed led the delegation. 

Vice chancellor University of Peshawar Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz and Farah Hamid, secretary Higher education were also present on this occasion. 

Governor KP further said that decision would be taken in the best interest of the province. President PUTA, Jamill Ahmed informed the governor about the PUTA utilization of funds in the financial year 2012 and requested the authorities to release further funds for golden jubilee celebrations in 2013. 

Governor directed the Secretary to Governor to meet with PUTA President, General Secretary and Secretary Higher Education to resolve the financial constraints and arrange funding. 

Meanwhile, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar said sports activities is our first priority besides promotion of basic education and health facilities in FATA.

This he said as chief guest in an award ceremony for FATA players who showed best performance in Punjab National Youth Festival 2012 held in Governor’s House Peshawar last Wednesday. The Governor distributed trophies and cash awards amongst the best players. The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Social Sector FATA, Secretary Law and Order FATA, Director Sports and Youth Affairs FATA and FATA players besides other officials and guests.

The Governor was briefed by Secretary Social Sector Mr. Aftab Durrani about the performance of FATA players in the festival. It was stated that FATA male team stood 4th in Football, 3rd in Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletics, while female team stood 2nd in Athletics and 4th in Badminton and Table Tennis. It was further stated that FATA got overall 2nd position in Pakistan.
