KMU organizes workshop on combating plagiarism in research publication

Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar in collaboration with Research Centre for Training and Development (RCT&D) Thursday organized a two days international workshop on “Academic Writing, Combating Plagiarism, A Citation Management and Publishing Research in Impact Factor Journals here IBMS Hayatabad, Peshawar.

The objective of the workshop was to highlight the importance of ethics in health research, combating plagiarism among students and faculty, to develop their understanding about citations and its importance in health research and how to target a journal with a good impact factor.

The workshop is targeted on postgraduate students of Ph.D, M.Phil and Masters of various discipline and faculty.

The faculty of the workshop was from a variety of disciplines of Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Pakistan. Most of the faculty members were renowned researchers in their relevant discipline and holding PhD degrees.

Earlier while talking to the inaugural session of the workshop Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) KMU Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Zaman said that the expected outcome of this workshop will be improving the concept of local researchers in research ethics, plagiarism and citations.

This will be step forward in improving the quality of research in the province of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and in Pakistan, he added.

He hoped that this workshop will not only help in enhancing the research capacity of the medical professionals but would also provide support in cultivating a research culture in medical and allied health institutions of the province.
