KMU starts work on IMSK, nursing sciences

Khyber Medical University (KMU) has started initial work on construction of multimillion projects KMU Institute of Nursing Sciences and Medical Technology and Institute of Medical Sciences Kohat.

The work has been started after inclusion of the two projects in Annual Development Program (ADP) by the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a press release issued here by KMU.

Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah presiding over a meeting here reviewed the two projects and was briefed by two consultant firms. The meeting was attended by officials of Health Department, C&W and consultant firms.

KMU Institute of Medical Sciences Kohat would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 994 million in Kohat district, while Institute of Nursing Sciences and Medical Technology would cost Rs. 750 million and to be constructed in Hayatabad Peshawar.

Speaking on the occasion, VC KMU said that the inclusion of two projects in ADP by the KP government is endorsement of its trust in KMU and also evident of the fact that the government is committed to establishing institutes for quality education in health sector.

He said KMU Institute of Medical Sciences Kohat would provide an opportunity to students from across the province to get best education in medical and dental departments, besides providing quality health services to people from southern districts of the province.

The VC further added that Institute of Nursing and Medical Technology would help meet the requirements of well trained nurses and also produce expert medical technologists.

Professor Hafizullah asked the consultants that the designs of the two buildings must be amalgamation of beauty and tradition and also environment friendly.

He asked Planning and Development Cell of the varsity to supervise the projects and must not compromise on quality of material.
