The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education, Muhammad Atif Khan Monday said the provincial government would provide Rs. 100 million to 1,000 schools of the province including 350 high secondary schools for improvement of sports facilities.
Addressing a sports festival at Haripur, he said that Rs. 100,000 would be given to each school to improve sports facilities for the students for their physical and mental growth.
He further said that besides this amount, a sum of rupees one million would soon be provided to each higher secondary school for parents-teachers’ council for utilization under different heads.
The Minister said the government was also considering setting up sponsored educational institutions at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the help of overseas Pakistanis, adding that transparency would be ensured in the process for confidence building of the overseas Pakistanis.
He said in order to eliminate corruption and politics from education department; the provincial government has taken various measures including appointments and transfers of teachers on merit.
He said the teachers would be appointed at their hometown and nobody would be transferred to any other station after his/her appointment at a school as a punishment.
He said PTI government, since coming to power, has taken emergency steps in education sector and given admissions to around 4 million children at schools.
Atif said KP government is committed to bringing the governmental schools at par with private institutions in dissemination of quality education.
He said peace; tolerance and development in any society could only be ensured with quality education and same is the priority of the PTI-led provincial government.
The Minister remarked that children are future of the country and it is responsibility of the governments to make them ready for future challenges in every walk of life by providing them with best educational facilities.
