KP medical colleges, universities to open from June 01

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department on Thursday announced the opening of medical educational institutions from June 01.

According to announcement, medical universities and medical and dental colleges will be opened from June 01. The notification said all public and private medical universities, colleges, nursing schools/colleges, paramedical health sciences schools/colleges will open across the province from June 01. These institutions were previously closed due to coronavirus concerns.

“All public and private medical universities/medical colleges, dental colleges, nursing schools/colleges, paramedical/allied health sciences schools/colleges shall be opened from 1st June 2021. The concerned VC/principal/dean shall ensure vaccination of all the students and faculty,” read the notification.

Moreover, no medical education institution will have extracurricular activities and events.

According to the notification, only MBBS third year, fourth year and final year students will attend the classes on campus under strict COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

It said all other non-clinical classes shall continue their online classes and follow the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and government guidelines.

Meanwhile, registrations for corona vaccination of all citizens above 19 years of age started from Thursday. “Send your CNIC on 1166 and wait for the registration confirmation message. Vaccinate yourself and your family,” the Health Department said in a tweet.

Equipment provided to govt departments

The GLOF-II project distributed equipment among the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), On Farm Water Management and Directorate of Civil Defence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve capacity.

In this regard, a ceremony was held at Regional Meteorological Centre, Peshawar. Relief equipment include sleeping bags, mattresses, tents, sheet for rain, floor mats, waterproof trekking trousers, raincoats, waterproof outer jackets, hiking boots with crampons, goggles/sunglasses, walking ice-axe, gloves, backpacks, torch/headlight, ice crew, small solar panels and batteries. Similarly, laptops, video conferencing equipment, desktops, multimedia projectors and communications equipment were given to the On-Farm Water Management KP.

The equipment would be used in-case of an unforeseen event and for real time monitoring of floods.
