Government Degree College Landikotal (GDC) students on Monday staged a protest demonstration in Landikotal, demanding provision of basic facilities for college and chanted slogans against officials of local administration and college for poor performance.

The protest was organized under the auspices of Islami Jammiat Talba (IJT), in which hundreds of students participated. Protesting students were holding banners inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands and flayed official of both college and local administration of Khyber Agency. Speaking at the occasion, President IJT, Landikotal College Sadullah Shinwari and General Secretary Shah Khalid said the college has become a hub of problems for long and on the other side, authorities of both college and administration kept mum over these issues. Owing to closure of hostels in college for unknown reasons, the students who come from far-off areas are confronting worse condition and much of their time is being wasted in traveling, they informed. They further said the problems had completely diverted their attentions from study and it did not allow us to study for upcoming exams to be held near future. Students used to acquire monthly scholarships from the office of political agent in month of August while this time, they were deprived of it which was not less than a behavior of step mother, they revealed.

Shah Khalid describing the burning issues of the college said that basic facilities like power and potable water were not provided hitherto to students. However usage of polluted water have caused numbers of diseases, he disclosed and asked who will solve these problems? Neither the administration nor the education department were willing to resolve the troubles being faced by them, they lamented. They demanded of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Shaukatullah Khan and Sectary Education FATA to help solve their problems on priority basis. It is to be mentioned here that officials of local administration despite getting millions of income from various checkpoints in Landikotal have failed to resolve the problems of LDC students and solve it.
