Mechanized agri farming soon: Ayub

The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Arbab Ayub Jan said Saturday that all arrangements have been finalized to start formal working on Rs.500 million mechanized farming project at Tarnab Farm Peshawar. The minister directed the officials of his department to complete the process of purchasing 25 bulldozers and 150 tractors and other agriculture machinery in a transparent manner, adding any irregularity if found in this process, the concerned official taken to tasks.

He expressed these views while charing a meeting of his department at the committee room of Agriculture Department. Chief Planning officer, Ahmad Syed Khan briefed the meeting about the mechanized farming. The minister in his briefed address on the occasion said that agriculture seeds and machinery to the farmers was provided from the 25 model farm centers on subsidized rates besides free counseling.

The process to bring the barren lands under cultivations was under way in the province; he said adding that all the genuine demands of the needed farmers should be fulfilled. He said that 500 tube-wells have been sunked in the province which will bring 50,000 Kanal lands under cultivation.

We will facilitate farmers through this project to get more production from their farms with the help of modern technology, suitable environment, quality seeds and other facilities, he maintained.

Under the 10-year agriculture policy, he said the KP government has allocated Rs 2 billion for agriculture sector this year. Farmers would be provided with modern technology at subsidised rates besides other benefits and facilities at their door steps under this policy.
