The Provincial Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) has termed as shocking the incident that took place in Khyber Medical College, where a senior professor allegedly thrashed a girl student during an exchange of arguments on Friday last.A press release said the commission chairperson Neelam Toru shared her views during an emergency meeting with the members of commission held to discuss the issue.
She said the right to a particular religious dress code was safeguarded by the Human Rights Act, which allowed every woman and girl to follow the dress code of her choice.Neelam Toru said there was a dire need to create awareness in society through media that women and girls should not be forced what to wear.
