Peshawar University First Meeting of Board of Studies Of The Newly Established

The first meeting of the Board of Studies of the newly established Department of Tourism and Hotel Management was held in the Institute of Archaeology and Social Anthropology University of Peshawar. The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr Muhammad Farooq Swati and attended by the worthy members. The first meeting discussed various items on agenda including the goals pertaining to the taught courses.

Addressing the meeting Professor Muhammad Farooq Swati, appreciated the commendable efforts of all members on the Board and prayed for the future success of the new Department. He also applauded the efforts of Professor Muhammad Nasim Khan, Dr Ibrahim Shah and Dr Zakirullah Jan on the draft curriculum while being in the process of preparation.

Dr Swati termed the starting of the new teaching department as a historic event which was to be remembered in the academic history of the University of Peshawar, especially in the province which has been serving as hub of tourism and hostelling industry. He added the decision of opening this sort of new teaching Department was very appropriate in Peshawar city as well. The new Department will certainly play a leading role, and would be beneficial for the industry on one hand and the students and practitioners, he concluded.

It is worthwhile that all the honored members of the Board, after threadbare discussion on each and every item, recommended the curriculum of 4-Year BS programme for consideration and approval by the respective bodies of the University.

It is pertinent to mention that the worthy Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, has very kindly accorded approval of the newly established Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. The Department is going to start its academic activities from the next academic session 2014. To frame and finalize curriculum for the 4-year BS programme of the new Discipline, the Vice Chancellor has already approved Board of Studies of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management comprising learned professors from the Universities of Peshawar, Hazara, Abdul Wali Khan, Malakand, Consultant of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation, Director of Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Social Anthropology (University of Peshawar) as Convener of the Board.
