The Journalists Welfare, Safety and Development Foundation will establish a practical journalism institute in the provincial capital to build capacity of mediapersons by imparting them professional and safety trainings on regular basis.
Similarly, various kinds of events like workshops, seminars, dialogues would be arranged under different themes to enhance knowledge of journalists so they could face challenges of the new era. The decision was taken at a meeting of the foundation’s cabinet chaired by its patron Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha at Peshawar Press Club on Monday.
It decided that practical journalism activities would be extended gradually to other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting decided to work for welfare of orphans and widows of the deceased mediapersons after collecting data about them.
It was decided that special focus would be given on the training of journalists so that they could enhance their professional skills and also ensure their safety while covering events in the field. The newcomers in journalism would be encouraged to adopt the profession on permanent basis and play role in improving the overall scenario of the sacred profession.
