Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Khan Retires from 6th February, 2013

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Khan, (Meritorious Prof), Dean, Faculty of Numerical & Physical Sciences and Founder Director, Centralised Resource Laboratory, University of Peshawar is retiring from the University service from 6th February, 2013. Prof. Dr.Riaz Khan started his carrier from Islamia College in 1975 as lecturer. He joined Physics Department in 1982 as Assistant Prof and obtained Ph.D degree from University of Essex, U.K. in 1987 in Physics (Material Studies). He remained Chairman Department of Physics from 1996-1999 and from 2001 to 2004. He was awarded Meritorious Prof. status in 2004 on his academic, administrative and research contributions.

In 2001 and 2004 he submitted projects to HEC for establishment of Centralised Resource Laboratory and completed both the projects in 2006.  This laboratory houses state of the art equipment including Electron Microscopes both Transmission and Scanning with EDX systems, a unique facility rarely available in the country.  The laboratory is providing services to all the researchers of the country from Universities and R & D organizations in different research fields and has created a good name to the University of Peshawar. He feels pride in saying that almost all the equipment installed in the laboratory are still operative in spite of the severe power shutdown problems through out the country in the recent past.  

Prof. Riaz remained a member of syndicate and Senate of University of Peshawar.  He also remained convener and member of various academic and administrative committees of the University of Peshawar. He was member of syndicate, selection board, ASRB and board of studies of other Universities through out the country. Prof. Riaz has many research publications in International Journals. He is an approved HEC supervisor and produced  Ph.D and many M.Phils in the subject.

He feels very satisfied with his contribution to the University of Peshawar in particular and other universities and R & D organizations in general during his career. He sends a message of thanks and gratitude to all those within and outside the University who helped him in fulfilling his academic, research and development assignments during his career.
