Puta annual polls: Candidates finalized

Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) on Tuesday announced final list of the candidates contesting in the upcoming annual elections of the teachers’ body to be held on November 29, 2012.

Ihsan Ullah, lecturer at Institue of Geography, Urban & Regional Planning and Jamil Ahmad the current president of PUTA will contest for the slot of the President while Fazil Nasir of Pharmacy and Syed Waqar Ali Shah of History Department will vie for the post of General Secretary.

Similarly, Anwar Alam of Social Work Department and Hamid Rehman of Library Science Department will contest for Vice President; Inamullah Khan of Pharmacy Department and Mohammad Hashim Khan of IMS to be candidates for the seat of Joint Secretary; Alamgir of Statistics Department and Mohammad Farooq of Mathematics Department for Finance Secretary seat, and Zakir Ullah of Archaeology Department will go one on one with Zaigham Hasan of Zoology Department for the post of Literary Secretary.

Meanwhile, for the post of Sports Secretary the names that were finalized include Fida Hasan of Center of Biotech & Micro-biology Department and Gohar Rehman of Geology Department while Atta Ur Rehman and Fayaz Ali of Geology Department, Jamshid Ali Khan of Pharmacy Department, Ghulam Mustafa of Political Science Department, Mukhtar Ali Durrani and Mohammad Farooq Sawati of of Institute of Archeology & Anthropology, Mohammad Rauf of IER and Roohullah of Pashto Department will contest as the candidates for executive members of PUTA.

Farzana Shaheen of Jinnah College for Women was elected unopposed as Vice Female President of PUTA.
