A protest demonstration against the removal of local senior teacher from the post of Assistant Agency Education Officer (AAEO) was held in front of Landikotal Press Club here on Sunday.

Hundreds of angry protesters relating to different walks of life were holding placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands. They were chanting full throat slogans against MNA of the constituency and Fata secretariat officials. Addressing on the occasion Haji Iqbal said, the appointment of the removed AAEO had been made on merit and in his short, four months tenure initiated constructive steps for the betterment of the state-run schools. The AAEO started surprising visits to all the government education institutions in Landi Kotal and his hard work produced positive results, he said.

Attendances of the teachers in the government schools raised to 80% and the abrupt changes have been felt and lauded by the tribal, he further added. The only ‘crime’ he committed was deductions and refund of the monthly pay of few beloved ones of MNA, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri that he was dethroned, he remarked.

Amir Afridi, student leader in Peshawar University said, the deposed officer Hustam Khan Afridi, is an honest, dutiful and for the first time ever in the history of the tehsil Landi Kotal that local teachers were bestowed upon the responsibility of AAEO tehsil Landi Kotal. But the irony of the time is that he has been removed on the interference of Member National Assembly (MNA) Noor-ul-Haq Qadri. They regretted that a non-local and under-report person was taken in his place on the recommendations of MNA Qadri, which is step mother behavior to Landi Kotal and unacceptable to them.

They threatened to continue their protest till undoing of the decision. They also demanded of the Governor KPK to probe into the matter and restore the removed official who was competent enough for spreading education in the neglected areas of Landikotal.
