Rich Tributes paid to the Outgoing Physicists, Professors of University of Peshawar

Rich tributes were paid to outgoing faculty members, the Dean Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz who retired from University service on 6th February 2013 and Prof. Dr. Fazal ur Rehman Sethi, Director Institute of Physics and Electronics who subsequently retires from University of Peshawar on Saturday February 9, 2013.

The ceremony was arranged by staff of the Institute of Physics and Electronics at the Peshawar University Guest House. Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhamamd Rasul Jan, faculty and officers of University participated in the event.

The legendry professors were institutions in their field of specialty and are known with grate esteem by physicists around the world, said the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan. He added the University would like to utilize the expertise of the senior professor so as to nurture the young faculty.

The filling of vacuum created after the retirement of senior professors like them is an uphill task and great challenge to confront with, Dr. Jan informed. 

About Dr. Muhammad Riaz, the Vice Chancellor said, he served as meritorious professor in the institution, and his role on various University bodies was really commendable. Dr. Fazal ur Rehman Sethi was one of the most respected and credible faculty member of University of Peshawar. Only few people know that he was a dedicated social worker as well, said the Vice Chancellor.

We are proud of their contribution and the services they have rendered for the well being and prosperity of this institution, the Vice Chancellor said.

It is worthwhile that Dr. Muhammad Riaz was founder director of centralized resource laboratory, and remained as senior dean of varsity. He did his Ph. D from the University of Essex, UK in the year 1987 in Material Studies. He remained chairman of Physics department from 1996-1999 and from 2001 to 2004. He also remained as member of University of Peshawar Syndicate and Senate.
