 Seminar on ‘Rule of Law’ organized by Department of LAW, SBBWUP

Department of Law organized one day seminar titled “Rule of law” on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Video Conference Hall Main Campus, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar. The objective of the seminar was to create quality learning environment for the students and to enlighten them with the supremacy of Law.

Mr. Akhtar Ali, Former Vice Chairman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and Mohammad Issa Khan Advocate, President of High Court Bar Association were the guest speakers.

The seminar started with the recitation of Holy Quran. Prof. Abdul Manan welcomed the guests and the participants on the behalf of the University. He gave a brief description about the university and the progress of the department till date.

Mr. Akhtar Ali, Former Vice Chairman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council during his address said that Rule of Law is meant to be understood by everyone. It should not be confined to law students and practitioners only. Awareness should be spread about Rule of Law among everyone. While addressing the students he said that implementation is the most important element and it is the collective responsibility of the citizens to stand for it.

Mohammad Issa Khan Advocate, President of High Court Bar Association in his address stressed on practice of Islamic laws in the field. According to him implementation of Islamic law is trending now a days. He stated that rule of law is directly proportional to peace and economic well being of the society Everyone should obey and persuade others to follow rule of law. He encouraged female students for pursuing legal education and appreciated the efforts of Women University on providing an opportunity to female students to excel in this field.

There is a growing realization in Pakistan that equal participation of female in all walks of life is inevitable for political, social and economic development. The traditional patriarchal society requires an effort on the part of everyone, not in the least women themselves, to understand female’s rights and privileges as also their true role in society.

The seminar ended with vote of thanks to the honorable guests and participants followed by Question and Answers session by the students.
