The Department of Computer Science, University of Peshawar arranged a Seminar on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) on 28th May, 2015. The objective of this seminar was to create awareness among students about this new area and to bring researchers from all over KP on a single platform to produce more valuable research ideas regarding WSN which can be applied for the development of Pakistan.
The Dean of Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences, Dr. Adnan Sarwar, was the Chief Guest at the seminar. Other attendees included students and faculty from various KP Universities.
The Chairman of Department of Computer Science, Dr. Saeed Mahfooz, started the proceedings by welcoming all the guests. Dr. Muhammad Tariq (NUCES Peshawar), the keynote speaker at the event discussed different applications and challenges of WSN. Dr. Sohail Yousaf (UET Peshawar) explained how WSN can be used for the Detection of Cosmic Rays. Dr. Imtiaz Rasool (University of Peshawar) then talked about different localization issues in WSN and identified a number of open research areas.
Dr. Huma Javed, the chief organizer of the event discussed how Wireless Sensor Networks has emerged as a new technology and encouraged students to work in this field. In the end, she thanked all the guests and the rest of the organizing team for making the event a success.
