The Peshawar Medical College will organize the 7th Undergraduate Medical Research Conference on March 20. According to a press release, the theme is “Vector Borne diseases, small creatures, big threats”. Vectors are small organisms such as mosquitoes, bugs and ticks that can carry disease from person to person and place to place. They breed prolifically in water, moist soil, warm humid climates and animal skin.

In recent years, there has been, in the whole of South Asia and particularly Pakistan, an alarming resurgence of malaria, dengue and Congo Crimean Haemorrhagic fever. They are all vector-borne diseases. The increase in global temperature and changing weather patterns have contributed to the rise in vector population.
