Speakers at a function have highlighted the importance of books-reading, and stressed the need of establishment public libraries and information resources centres, to create knowledge among the coming generation about rich-Pakhtuns cultural and history.
The function was held under auspices of Peshawar Uplift program at Saalim Khan Khalil library in Hayatabad Peshawar, in which additional secretary social welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Roohullah Khan participated as chief guest. Under the Peshawar Uplift program, the Saalim Khan Khalil library equipped with various facilities, to develop it on modern line.
The function main objective was handing over of supplies to Saalim Khan library, which include furniture, water dispensers, Photostate Machine, Fax Machine, ACs, a TV set and Generator etc. During the function, the officials of Peshawar Uplift program, government functionaries, literary figures, writers, and members of civil society organizations, also present.
The participants said that the importance of books-reading has not been ignored in the modern and technological advancement era. They also stressed the government should need to take steps for overcome with shortcoming of facilities at public-libraries and ensure available of relevant resources material, which would be easily available for students and general public.
Roohullah Khan, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the organizers for arranging such a informative and worth event, which highlighting the importance of books-reading and libraries. He said the libraries will have significance role for dissemination of various information and keep alive the culture and historic norms, by creating knowledge among the coming generation.
Similarly, he said the library would also play major role for education purpose, and helping out in provision of information for the relevant studies. Other participants also emphasized the need for establishment of libraries and availability of all facilities in exiting information resource centres, and thanked the Peshawar uplift program for equipping with the Saalim Khan Khalil library with modern technology and availability of the furnishing materials.
