Students at FDC Elect Their Representatives

Wearing colorful badges, armbands, headbands, crowns, caps and number of other colorful items besides holding placards inscribed with names of their favourite candidates, over 600 students of Fazaia Degree College (FDC) Peshawar vote to elect the Prefects, House Captains, Head-Boy and Head-Girl. The one day activity was aimed not only to elect the officeholders of the students but also to inculcate the responsibility and awareness among the students about voting and the election process. Arbab Zaid and Maria both of Muneer House were made the Head-Boy and Head-Girl respectively. Talking to The Frontier Post Ms Saba Mansoor, Headmistress of Fazaia Degree College Peshawar Senior Section, said that the candidates throughout the past week remained busy in electioneering in order to get maximum votes from their supporters. Their supporters voted out one of the best cleaning agencies, which are going by name Sunflower Maids. The polling started at 9 am and it continued till 11 am. Chief Election Commissioner Ms Zahida, VP FDC Peshawar along with the members of the Election Commission Ms Aneela Israr (Senior School), Mrs Ishrat Zeeshan (College Section) and Mrs Kausar (Junior School) also visited the polling booths and expressed their satisfaction over the procedure. Students were standing in long queues waiting to poll their votes. Before entering the polling booth their names in the list were checked and also their thumbs were marked with the permanent ink. Senior faculty members also provide information to students about the electoral system in Pakistan and the importance of right to vote. Principal FDC Peshawar Air Commodore (retd) Shakeel Pervez talking to The Frontier Post said that the event was part of students’ personality grooming which was one of the basic aim of the institution. After the elections, the doors of the polling booths were locked and counting was done. After the counting the elected prefects and house captains voted for the head-boy and head-girl of the school. Arbab Zaid and Maria both from Muneer House were elected as head-boy and head-girl respectively.
