The outstanding students for academic session 2013-14 were honored in the annual day function of the College of Home Economics University of Peshawar. Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr. Mohammad Rasul Jan was the chief guest of the day and distributed prizes to the award winners. For her outstanding overall performance in academics, discipline and other co curricular activities Marwa Ijaz was declared as the best student of the year. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Rasul Jan termed home economics education as an integral part of social and economic development of the country. He said that disciplines like the early childhood development and education could prove helpful in training mothers and professionals about the best practices involved in mental grooming of children. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the contribution of the teachers of the College of Home Economics in promoting the cause of higher education in the province by donating part of their salary into the Students Endowment Fund of UoP. He said the fund would provide support to the University in ensuring prevention of dropouts from higher education.
