Representatives of different teachers associations on Monday demanded of the government to appoint qualified teachers as Chairmen of Textbook Book Board and Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Malakand. They also demanded appoinment of teachers on administrative position in education department, rather District Management Group (DMG) officers.
Pakhtunkhwa College Teachers Association provincial president Professor Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai told a news conference that Chairman of BISE, Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HIRA) and textbook boards, and education secretary are the positions of X-cadre, and professors and high qualified teachers were appointed on these posts.
ANP led coalition government in its last cabinet meeting took a this deicsion to appoint DMGs as calendar of boards which was against the law and now these appoinments had been made from officers of secretariat group on all aforementioned high level positions on recommendation of bureaucracy.
He said the decision was already challenged by various teaching associations in Peshawar High court, which is under hearing.
Despite the litigation and protest of teachers union, he said that those candidates inducted as chairman textbook board and Chairman BISE Malakand, which didnt short-listed for the positions. He viewed that the both positions are purely curriculum base, which need to be inducted qualified teachers or professor, which is serving under grade-20. Because, he said that it was major issue in education department to appoint grade-20 officer as chairman of education board or textbook board.
Accompanied by the association general secretary Khan Dil Badshah, and presidents and heads of various teaching associations and organizations, Professoer Nasrullah said that administration has made appointment from secretariat group on two-key chairman positions before the judgments of Peshawar High court in this case. He said the teacher association and organizations would strongly agitate against the decision.
He warned that if the government would not withdrawn appointment of Chairman textbook board and chairman of BISE Malakand, then the teaching staffs would boycott from duties and marking in examinations of secondary education certificate and elementary and curriculum checking of the textbook board.
