UET organizes seminar on Plagiarism and Self-Assessment

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) held a one-day seminar on ‘Plagiarism’ for faculty members and students at UET Peshawar, other day. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Director QEC, was the speaker. The topics covered in the seminar-included plagiarism, tools available for plagiarism detection, problems faced by authors with regard to plagiarism checking and ways to avoid plagiarism in thesis writing and publications. The participants took keen interest in the seminar, asked questions and shared their experiences with regard to plagiarism checking. 

Dr. Khan said the University checks all Masters’ and Ph.D. theses for plagiarism in accordance with the requirement of HEC adding, ‘the University checks all papers submitted for publication in the Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences for plagiarism before the start of review process.’

In the meanwhile, Dr. Khan also held another seminar on “Self-Assessment Process” of HEC at UET, Kohat Campus. The seminar covered the objectives of self-assessment process criteria for HEC in relation to program outcomes, curriculum, students, faculty, facilities, process control and institutional support. The seminar also addressed the roles of faculty, Program Teams and Assessment Teams for enhancing teaching quality through self-assessment process. The seminar was attended by faculty and senior administrative officials of Kohat Campus.
