Dr Khizar Azam, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, has been selected by the WHO Core Group for its global MENTOR-VIP (Violence and Injuries Prevention) — a global mentoring programme for violence and injury prevention.
This programme is designed to develop key skills by fostering collaboration between committed injury and violence prevention practitioners and appropriately matched mentors.
Dr Azam has done his PhD in transportation safety area and is actively engaged in research in the field of road traffic injury prevention. His involvement in the mentor VIP programme will be for one year. A renowned scientist, Professor Ann Williamson of University of New South Wales, Australia, has been assigned as a mentor.
