United States Embassy Called on the VC Islamia College

The Country Director of the United States Embassy in Islamabad, Ms. Afshar Amir called on the Vice-Chancellor of the Islamia College, Peshawar, Professor, Dr. Qibla Ayaz and discussed matters of mutual interest. Ms. Afshar who heads the Information, Research and Communication Unit of the US Embassy, Islamabad discussed with Prof. Qibla Ayaz a wider range of matters of mutual interests revolving round research and higher education in the ICP. Both the officials were in principle agreed to also launch English language training programs in the University and its Islamia Collegiate School for the teaching staff aimed at strengthening their English language teaching skills. Prof. Qibla Ayaz presented a shield of the ICP to Ms. Afshar as sign of good will gesture. Meanwhile The Sanitation Staff Association of Islamia College, Peshawar has thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Sareer Badshah and Treasurer, Mr. Arif ul Haq for taking immediate measures to facilitate the Sanitation Staff of the University.

In a statement issued here yesterday William Akhtar, President and Ghaffar Sardar, General Secretary of the Sanitation Staff Association, ICP, particularly thanked the Vice-Chancellor for replacing the work-title ‘Sweeper’ with a decent work-title ‘Nazzaf’ besides giving approval to one water cooler and other measures for facilitating the Christian Community on the Islamia College campus. They assured full support to the Vice-Chancellor and other responsible officers of the ICP. Meanwhile The Vice-Chancellor, Islamia College, Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz has assign additional duty of Director Admissions, Performance and Record Office (APARO) of the University to Dr. Hussain Farooq, an assistant professor of Islamic Theology. Earlier, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Subhan of the Department of Chemistry was the director APARO. However, following his appointment as Coordinator, Inter-Studies at the ICP, Prof. Hussain Farooq has taken over the charge of APARO.
