UoP approves upper limits for number of M. Phil scholars

In order to achieve maximum output in researches, the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of the University of Peshawar in its monthly meeting today approved upper limits for the number of M. Phil scholars per supervisor and ordered strict implementation of the decision in all the departments of varsity.

The august body decided that senior professors with articles published in good impact factor research journals would have a maximum limit of supervising up to fifteen M. Phil scholars at a time while other PhD faculty should supervise an optimum of ten scholars simultaneously.

The meeting of the ASRB was held with Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan in the chair. Twenty seven M. Phil scholars flanked by their supervisors presented topics in the meeting and gave arguments in favor of its relevance and importance to the field of study. Thirty six among them were approved after thorough deliberation while one was differed.

Owing to the increase in the number of research topics and scholars, the Advanced Studies and Research Board also acceded to the suggestion of holding separate meetings for approval of research topics for M. Phil and PhD Scholars.
