UoP awards scholarships

The Higher Education Commission French need based scholarships were distributed among twenty four BS students of the University of Peshawar in a ceremony held at the University of Peshawar. The scholarship amounting to Rs. 2 million rupees were given to students comprising 30% female quota and 70% on the needs and poverty of the recipients concerned. Each student would get two hundred thousand each in four equal annual installments, first installment whereof were distributed in the ceremony. Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan gave the scholarship cheques to the students in a ceremony held at the Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Museum Hall of the University of Peshawar. He was accompanied by Director Admissions Prof. Dr. Hizbullah Khan and Director Planning and Development Dr. Badshah Munir Bukhari. Addressing the ceremony the Vice Chancellor said that the University of Peshawar has a firm commitment to ensure that the students do not drop out of his or her studies because of poor financial position. That is why the University has started its own endowment fund wherein employees of the University contribute a part of their salary and donate the same to the poor and needy students, he added.
