University of Peshawar Department of Journalism and Mass Communication documentary, “ I Hope… “ got third position in the 7th International Vasakh documentary film festival concluded in Lahore the other day. The two day festival was competed under the auspices of Interactive Resource Centre (IRC). Thirty five institutions and production companies from the country as well as abroad participated in the event, which included, National Institute of Design India, Shabani Hassanwalia Production Tibet etc. The UoP documentary was aimed at highlighting issues relating to child labor. Students pressed violation of basic human rights in Pakistan through engaging children in bonded labor and underline the need for strong legislation and its implementation to root out the heinous act. The member of the award winning students led by Chairman Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Prof. Dr. Altafullah met the Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan and presented the award to him.
The Vice Chancellor praised the students on their achievement. He said that over the years, University of Peshawar Department of Journalism and Mass Communication have produced excellent Journalists and Film Producer, who are serving the country’s institutions to the best of their abilities.
He added that Documentary Production is a growing art with an ever booming market because one gets message about a particular issue or place within few minutes.
