The University of Peshawar and two nongovernmental organizations: Initiative for Development & Empowerment Axis (IDEA) Peshawar and Pakistan Youth Change Advocates Islamabad have signed Memorandum of Understandings to promote entrepreneurship, work on peace building and enhance communication skills of students in two separate ceremonies held at UoP. The agreement to remain effective for one year was signed by Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan and representatives of both the organizations.
According to agreement IDEA would work on improvement of the presentation and communication skills of the educated youth so that they can better present their selves in the job market. Besides the students would be engaged in decision making process and allowed to choose a path that will suit their own interest, values, abilities and personality style.
The Pakistan Youth Change Advocates would promote youth engagement and alternative spaces and narratives to extremist messaging in Pakistan. In this regard they would be imparted with professional and technical support in developing proposals to be implemented in their communities.
Addressing the delegates the Vice Chancellor said that University of Peshawar would like to extend cooperation with any organization that can contribute in the capacity building of their students. He added that varsity was inclined towards imparting market oriented educated to the students and build on the students skills to contribute towards a knowledge economy.
Dr. M. Rasul Jan viewed that jobs in the public sector are limited and therefore students needs to be equipped with latest trends in entrepreneurship to become job providers than job seekers. He underlined the need for engaging the youth in positive activities to negate negative messaging in their mind.
