The University of Peshawar in its heads of teaching department meeting unanimously adopted to introduce a micro academic auditing system in all disciplines so as to standardize its four year Bachelor Degree Programme. The meeting presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan at Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Hall also decided to start BS progarmme by October 7, 2013 and complete verification of documents of students within one month of their admission. They also looked into the conduct of the ongoing MA/ M. Sc examination and found it satisfactory after the Controller examination apprised the participants about his office zero tolerance approach toward cheating during the course of exam. The heads also decided that all the Photocopier shops within campus and those within the vicinity of examination halls found guilty of photocopying cheating material would be handed over to the police and serious punishment would be initiated against them under the law.
The Vice Chancellor informed the participants that University of Peshawar through a notification has communicated to all its employees not to get engaged in private business; consultancy and teaching outside University within duty hours without permission otherwise strict disciplinary action would be taken against them. Being the mother Institution University of Peshawar should take the lead in providing academic leadership to the country, said Dr. Rasul Jan. This he added can be achieved if we train our own human resource i.e: the teaching and para teaching staff first. The Vice Chancellor called for volunteer services of the senior faculty to train the younger ones and announced strengthening of the Centre of Human Resource and Career Development at University of Peshawar. Dr. Jan also informed the audience that University of Peshawar was passing through financial crisis and special austerity measures should be taken by the staff to contribute towards reducing financial burden on varsity.
The meeting was attended by Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Dean Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Amir Nawaz Khan, Dean of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Mujib ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Naeem ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Management and Information Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Registrar Dr. Syed Fazl I Hadi and heads of teaching departments and principals of constituent colleges.
