Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, vice chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, has assumed the charge as acting chairperson of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
HEC Executive Director Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, along with senior officers of the HEC, welcomed him.
Mr. Gilani, who is also a member of the HEC’s governing body, has previously held senior positions at various national and international levels. In a career spanning over
four decades, he has established a reputation as a visionary administrator and an educationist.
During his address to HEC employees after assuming the charge, Mr. Gilani appreciated the performance of HEC for development of higher education sector. He reiterated his commitment to further strengthen the higher education sector by establishing effective coordination with all the stakeholders including different divisions of federal and provincial governments, vice chancellors, faculty members, and strengthening HEC as an institution.
